Happy Birthday Cake

10
Mar

Another Tilda card … I’m feeling really good about coloring with my Prismacolor pencils right now, and am really liking the way that it turns out. I’ve never really liked coloring in before, but the pencils with the mineral spirits really help.

The Happy Birthday stamp is from Limitless Labels from Papertrey Ink, and all the paper is from the CTMH More to Adore paper pack.

“Fishing” You Happiness

I finally made another card. And let me tell you, I’m not exaggerating when I say that this card took me 2 days to make. I started with the image, and then had to come up with a card layout, size, and papers to match the coloring I had already done.

I clearly was enjoying the Gingham look of things this time around, and I stuck with good old circles to boot!

I also got out my prismacolor pencils … this time with mineral spirits. Loved how the coloring turned out this time. It definitely takes practice, but the more comfortable you become with it, the more natural the coloring looks I think.

The sentiment is from a retired CTMH set (Noah’s Parade). I threw in CTMH retired clover meadow gingham ribbon, clover meadow eyelets, and stickles for Edwin’s wings.

Enjoy!

You only Live Once!

So, you know how every once in awhile you made that ONE card … you know … the ONE!?!?! It’s the one you LOVE. Whether it’s super detailed, or super simple, it doesn’t matter. You just love it. That’s how I feel about this card. I just love it.

It’s a simple card. But I love how the colors contrast with each other. And yes, I used circles again. I think I’ve found something that makes me creative for now … and you know how that is! Once you find it, you stick with it.

The papers are all CTMH – black cardstock, White Daisy Textured cardstock, Baby Pink cardstock. CTMH paper flower, with CTMH bling, and Baby Pink Grosgrain ribbon. The saying comes from CTMH Make It Count stamp set.

Enjoy!

No Pain no Gain – Circles

02
Mar

I saw a sketch at My Scrappy Blog that I liked, and went ahead and went with it.

The papers are CTMH Floral Tapestry Paper Pack, and I used my CM circle cutter to cut all the circles in various sizes.

I used my new SU Jumbo eyelets, which I love, and CTMH Legandary Moments stamp set.

I made squiggles (LOL) around the plain cardstock circles for some contrast.

Thank You Card

So, here’s another Silouette Card. I just love this paper so much, but I’ll likely move away from it for awhile now! :P Maybe.

I need to send some Thank You cards, so came up with this quick card.

Supplies area all CTMH except the eyelets. Stamp set is Greetings to You (possibly retired).

I’m also working on a couple of other projects. I’m working on going through my old mags and tearing out what I really like and what to keep. I’m creating a card box out of a lunch box tin with tabs and pasting my torn out images to big index cards. When I get further along, I’ll post a picture of that.

I’m also working on a Bind it All journal – for card/layout sketches. I like the idea of having one of these handy for those times that I have an idea I want to remember!

Here’s the card!

This card is based on a “doodle” by Pammie from Friday.

Supplies: CTMH Serendipity Papers, CTMH Legendary Moments Stamp, CTMH Woodland Sentiments stamp (retired), and CTMH Black Ribbon Collection.

The stamping on the black piece of paper was done in a 2nd generation CTMH White Daisy and then clear embossed.

True Love

This is my take on this card that Lisa made a few weeks ago.

The Serendipity papers from CTMH are my favorite set of papers right now I think. Love the color combo and the designs.

Stamps are all CTMH – Rustic Alphabet and February Word Puzzle.

I Want to be Just Like You

I don’t know that this is my favorite card … I look at it and it seems plain kinda. But I don’t really know what to add. Since I made it to be a more male type card though, it’s probably just right! LOL

Papers are from CTMH It’s a Guy Thing paper pack, the stamp set is CTMH Just Like You and the ink is Barn Red.

Happy Thanksgiving?

How to … Polished Stone

10
Feb

Ok – time for another How To. This time it’s for Polished Stone.

Let me preface this by saying there are many different ways that people create the Polished Stone Technique. This is the way that I create it – and it’s the method that I taught at a CTMH Convention a few years ago! It’s not that difficult, and in my opinion looks pretty realistic.

If you have questions – let me know. Thanks!

Supplies:

Glossy Cardstock
Colored Re-inker
Metallic Re-inker
91% Isoprophyl Alcohol (You need to make sure it’s the 91%)
Cottonballs
Tweezers
Krylon Clear Coat Spray

Step 1:

Drop several drops of the colored re-inker (in this example, Spring Iris) onto the cottonball. You’ll want to hold on to the cottonball with your tweezers, as this can be very messy.

Step 2:

Start “dabbing” the cottonball onto the glossy cardstock. Continue to do this until the paper is pretty much completely covered – you may need to add reinker to your cottonball.

Step 3:

Repeat the previous step with the metallic reinker. The coverage doesn’t need to be as complete as it was with the colored reinker. This is what it will look like:

Step 4:

Repeat Step 2 one more time – this time with a cottonball and the alcohol. As the alcohol begins to react with the metallic reinker, you will start to get the “marbled” look that you are going for. You can continue to play with it a little bit as it starts to dry to try and manipulate it a bit more. Don’t over work it though.

Step 5:

Once the piece is completely dry – it could take 20-30 minutes – take it to a well ventilated area, preferably outside, and spray with the Krylon clear coat. This will keep the metallic reinker from rubbing off on anything and everything and seals the final look.

Step 6:

Cut to your specs and make your card!

Have Fun!

Amour!

Hi!

One more Serendipity card! I might be done after this – we’ll see! ;)

Believe it or not, this is the first card (or scrapbook page for that matter) that I’ve ever used brackets on. I think it turned out kinda cute.

Recipe:
Papers: CTMH – Serendipity
Inks: CMTH – Chocolate, Outdoor Denim
Stamps: CTMH – Serendipity, Rustic Alphabet
Accessories: CTMH – Photo Hangers, Colonial White Bigger Brads, Outdoor Denim Designer Ribbon

Serendipity Revisited!

27
Jan

Another Serendipity card.

Everything on this card is CTMH.

I also tried something new – a Ribbon Blossum. Pam at Indigo Studio made this tutorial showing how to create this. Her’s look so much better than mine. I thought at first it was because I used primarily grosgrain type ribbon and she used more organdy type, but she went and posted a card today that shot that theory down! :P I think I’m just not working the ribbon enough, and will need to practice up. I still like the way it turned out, but her’s are much, much cuter!

Recipe:
Papers: CTMH – Serendipity
Inks: CTMH – Chocolate
Stamps: CTMH – Serendipity
Accessories: CTMH – Outdoor Denim Designer Ribbon, Colonial White bigger brads, Chocolate small paper flower, Colonial White brad, Cocoa Grosgrain Ribbon, Twill Ribbon

And, as I’m sitting creating this card, I turn around to this view:

How much cuter can they get than that!
